Krishna Chaitanya Vadlamannati is an assistant professor at the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRe), University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from Heidelberg University in Germany. His main research interests are international political economy, development politics, and the political economy of development in India. His works have appeared in prominent economics and political science journals such as Journal of Development Economics, World Development, International Studies Quarterly, and Journal of Peace Research, among others. He is also member of editorial board of Journal of Peace Research and the International Area Studies Review.

Economic Freedom of the World: 2017 Annual Report

The Economic Freedom of the World: 2017 Annual Report is the world’s premier measurement of economic freedom, ranking countries based on five areas: size of government, legal structure and security of property rights, access to sound money, freedom to trade internationally, and regulation of credit, labour and business. This year’s report compares 159 countries and territories. In this year’s ranking, which is based on 2015 data, Hong Kong is again number one, Canada dropped to 11th from the 5th spot last year and is tied with the United States.
