Andrew Cohen has written widely on national affairs as a journalist, author, and professor. His bestselling books include A Deal Undone: The Making and Breaking of the Meech Lake Accord and Trudeau's Shadow: The Life and Legacy of Pierre Elliott Trudeau (with J.L. Granatstein). While Canada Slept: How We Lost Our Place in the World was a finalist for the Governor General's Literary Award and a Globe and Mail Notable Book. A native of Montreal and a graduate of McGill University, Cohen has written for Time, United Press International , and The Globe and Mail , where he was a columnist, editorialist, and foreign correspondent. Cohen now writes a syndicated column for the Ottawa Citizen and was a finalist in 2006 for a National Newspaper Award, which he has won twice. In 2002, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal. He is an associate professor of journalism and international affairs at Carleton University in Ottawa, where he lives with his wife and two children.
