Bill Emmott is Editor of The Economist magazine published in London, England. Prior to his appointment as Editor in March 1993, Bill Emmott held posts with The Economist in Brussels, London, and Tokyo. In mid-1986, he became Financial editor then Business Affairs editor responsible for all business, finance and science coverage. He has written two bestsellers on Japan's economy both published in English and Japanese. He is currently working on a book version of the 1999 extended essay he wrote for The Economist on the 20th century called Freedom's Journey. This book is to be called 20/21 Vision and will be published in Britain and the USA. He studied politics, philosophy and economics at Magdalen College, Oxford.
