In this third edition of Measuring the Fiscal Performance of Canada?s Premiers, the authors provide an objective, empirical assessment of how Canada?s premiers have managed the public finances of their provinces and whether they have pursued sound, long-term economic policies.
Each premier?s performance is measured over the time he or she held office up to the most recent year. Newfound land & Labrador Premier Kathy Dunderdale ranked first overall with a score of 71.4 out of 100.0, followed closely by New Brunswick Premier David Alward (70.4). Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall (61.6) and British Columbia Premier Christy Clark (60.8) were the only other two premiers to score above 50.0.
