Mac Van Wielingen is a veteran energy executive, private equity investor, director, and philanthropist. Van Wielingen’s unconventional corporate idealism has been developed through extensive experience in building businesses and by his knowledge as a self-described “student of business”.
 
Van Wielingen is a founder and director of ARC Financial Corp., a founder and former Chair of ARC Resources Ltd., and is Chair and an original director (2007) of the Board of Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), the fifth largest investment management company in Canada. He is also Founder and Chairman of Viewpoint Capital Corporation, a private family-owned investment company, and President of Viewpoint Foundation, a private charitable foundation. He is a past director of numerous companies in the energy sector, and is active in various capacities in the community and the not-for-profit sector.
 
Van Wielingen is a strong advocate for advancing business leadership and corporate governance. He has always been a visionary and forceful thinker with an interest in leadership studies, but his efforts became more prominent in response to the 2008-09 financial crisis. This led to his co-founding of the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership (CCAL) at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary in 2012, where he continues to serve as Chair of the External Advisory Group. His lifelong passion for learning and sharing keeps him actively involved in speaking engagements, writing pursuits and community events, with the goal of advancing dialogue and catalyzing positive change among directors and business leaders.
 
Mr. Van Wielingen is an honours graduate of the Ivey School of Business in finance and has also studied post-graduate economics at Harvard University.
