These post-secondary student seminars are a perfect networking opportunity for students interested in economics, political science, business and public policy, though students of all backgrounds are welcome! Join us in downtown Vancouver for a day full of informative and thought-provoking presentations from top scholars, a lively Q&A and peer-to-peer discussion. A light breakfast and lunch are provided alongside complimentary beverages. Please arrive before 10:00am PT to check-in. Registration is free for students.

Recent polling reveals that many young Canadians view socialism as being the best economic model for their country, as do many young people in the U.K., Australia and the U.S. While traditional socialism, whereby government controls the economy, receives some support from survey respondents, the favoured socialist model is the welfare state closely linked by many politicians to the Nordic countries, particularly Sweden and Denmark. In fact, popular perspectives of Sweden and Denmark as being socialist states are seriously mistaken, and their actual economic model would arguably not be popular with most Canadians who seem to favour that model.
