About the Event

Beyond the Basics offers teachers the opportunity to delve into advanced economics topics in a fun, simple, yet thorough way. Economics are a big part of our everyday life, from paying taxes, to observing price changes, to experiencing the effects of inflation. Through the implementation of a variety of activities, resources, and assignments, learn how intricate economics terms, that usually confuse students, can become familiar topics. This workshop allows experienced and new teachers to explore innovative ways of teaching economic topics such as elasticity, externalities, exchange rates, fiscal policy, and price stability.

Teachers will learn how to use innovative technology in the classroom, taking advantage of social media, edutainment and even *selfies* to illustrate economic concepts and their real life applications. This workshop equips teachers with interactive and technology focused tools to apply in their 21st century classroom. Go beyond the basics that are covered in our Economic Principles curriculum, as these lessons cover topics like innovation, entrepreneurship, oligopoly, game theory, fiscal policy, and more!
