Van Nghiem Vo was previously a data assistant at the Fraser Institute, and is currently pursuing a career as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. He completed his Bachelors of Science (Honours) in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University. He has assisted in an extensive range of research related to health-care topics, including health-care in low-income countries, access to new pharmaceuticals, and medical wait times in Canada. His research interests focus on the performance of health-care systems and health-related quality of life.

Timely Access to New Pharmaceuticals in Canada, the United States, and the European Union is a new study that finds Canadian patients are waiting, on average, more than 450 days longer than Americans and Europeans to access new, potentially life-saving drugs. That’s because pharmaceutical companies are reluctant to launch new drugs in Canada because of a number of factors including the smaller market size, weaker intellectual property protections, and the federal government’s strict pricing policies.
